Laurel Regan

Laurel Regan blogs about life and art at Alphabet Salad and Ten Thousand Tangles.

Laurel is a writer, tangler, iPhoneographer, cat herder, learner of French and Italian, crocheter, needle felter, Growlita, iFan, on-and-off politics junkie, 80s music trivia freak, and ongoing work in progress who is rather taken with the phrase "professional dilettante" (courtesy Anne/Vintage Woman) as a substitute for "random and scattered."

She is originally from Victoria, BC but now lives in Windsor, Ontario (that's in Canada!) with her husband Peter and two gorgeous, fluffy tuxedo cats named Felix and Oscar.

#MicroblogMondays 45 – Quirks & Oddities

We can all lay claim to some unusual, harmless things about our physical selves – little quirks and oddities that when combined with the rest of who we are make us unique. I certainly have them – and I don’t know about you, but I rather enjoy finding out that some of them actually have […] The post #MicroblogMondays 45 – Quirks & Oddities appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Today’s Gratitude List + July 2015 Gratitude Linkup

I feel I have to start out today’s post with an apology to my faithful readers and gratitude list sharers. As I wrote in an earlier post, I found myself caught up in a bout of blogging dis-inspiration (and laziness!) during the month of June, and I’m very sorry that last week’s linkup post was […] The post Today’s Gratitude List + July 2015 Gratitude Linkup appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

If we met for coffee

If we met for coffee, I’d order a refreshing iced coffee with milk for myself (what would you have to drink?), and we would claim a patio table outside the café so that we could enjoy the gorgeous sunshine and soft summer breeze while we chatted. If we met for coffee, I’d mention how much […] The post If we met for coffee appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Photo Friday: Red

What is your favourite part of summer? There’s a whole lot to love about the season, but I especially delight in the abundance and variety of fresh, ripe, sweet fruit available throughout the warmer months. So although I had several photos I could have chosen for today’s Photo Friday “Red” challenge prompt, I thought this […] The post Photo Friday: Red appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

The Alphabet Salad Connection

The theme of this month’s NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) challenge is Connect – and since that particular topic is rather near and dear to my social-loving heart, I thought I’d tackle a few of the writing prompts now and then as I blog my way through the month of July. Sound like a plan? […] The post The Alphabet Salad Connection appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Photo A Day Challenge – June 18-30, 2015

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canucks! In honour of the holiday I had a little fun decorating my profile pic (I do love photo editing apps!), and present it here so that non-Canadians can share a little bit in the fun and celebration of my wonderful country’s 148th Birthday. And now, on to the […] The post Photo A Day Challenge – June 18-30, 2015 appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Tangled Tuesday No. 50

As you may (or may not!) have noticed, June was a real bust for me in terms of keeping up with my daily blogging practice. Early in the month I decided to skip posting on a day when I’d been busy and didn’t feel particularly compelled to write – and that, being my first break […] The post Tangled Tuesday No. 50 appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Today’s Gratitude List + June 2015 Gratitude Linkup

Happy Father’s Day to my wonderful dad, who is at the top of today’s gratitude list. He is a terrific father in a whole lot of ways, but in light of the tragedy in Charleston this past week I must say that I am especially grateful to him for instilling the understanding in a very […] The post Today’s Gratitude List + June 2015 Gratitude Linkup appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Photo Friday: Flowers

My heart has been heavy ever since hearing about the tragic deaths of nine people in a racially-motivated execution which was carried out in the midst of a prayer meeting at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina. I will confess, with no small amount of shame, that the sheer frequency of mass shootings in […] The post Photo Friday: Flowers appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more
