Laurel Regan

Laurel Regan blogs about life and art at Alphabet Salad and Ten Thousand Tangles.

Laurel is a writer, tangler, iPhoneographer, cat herder, learner of French and Italian, crocheter, needle felter, Growlita, iFan, on-and-off politics junkie, 80s music trivia freak, and ongoing work in progress who is rather taken with the phrase "professional dilettante" (courtesy Anne/Vintage Woman) as a substitute for "random and scattered."

She is originally from Victoria, BC but now lives in Windsor, Ontario (that's in Canada!) with her husband Peter and two gorgeous, fluffy tuxedo cats named Felix and Oscar.

Photo Friday: Distant

These tower viewers on Windsor’s riverfront bring the distant Detroit skyline and surrounding areas into closer view – and the “wish you were here” notation is a message to those in distant places – so I thought this photo was a rather appropriate choice for today’s Photo Friday “Distant” challenge prompt. Have I mentioned that […] The post Photo Friday: Distant appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

If we met for coffee

If we met for coffee, I’d enthusiastically tell you all about what a truly wonderful week I’ve been having – even in spite of a pesky cold that’s been nagging at both me and Peter for the past several days. (It’s really not bad at all – just annoying us both with the sniffles. Barely […] The post If we met for coffee appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Tangled Tuesday No. 47

Guess what, my friends? I am now BACK in the land of the tangling living! (Or something like that.) Well, I’m not quite back to my previous “all tangling, all the time” routine, but I’m easing my way in again, so I figured it would be acceptable to do a proper Tangled Tuesday post this […] The post Tangled Tuesday No ....more

#MicroblogMondays 39 – Creativity and Inspiration

I used to operate under the assumption that inspiration was a random, capricious, and ultimately frustrating phenomenon beyond my control, revealing itself only when it chose to do so (often at the most inopportune times!)… and if I missed recognizing it or failed to act on it, anything creative that might have emerged from it […] The post #MicroblogMondays 39 – Creativity and Inspiration appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Today’s Gratitude List + May 2015 Gratitude Linkup

Peter remarked yesterday that I almost always seem to come down with something post-traveling, particularly when using some form of public transit. And it’s true! Though I was (thankfully) spared from picking up any nasty bugs the last couple of times I was on an airplane, I somehow managed to catch a cold after traveling […] The post Today’s Gratitude List + May 2015 Gratitude Linkup appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

On Becoming a Crazy Cat Couple

Once upon an October day last year, two of our good friends packed up their possessions and moved into the house they’d just bought. They thought it would be just the two of them living there; however, they soon discovered that they weren’t the only residents of the place! Unbeknownst to them, around the time […] The post On Becoming a Crazy Cat Couple appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

Photo Friday: Beach

My choice for today’s Photo Friday “Beach” prompt was taken in Victoria, BC when I visited last fall. The fog down at the ocean’s edge was, as they say, as thick as pea soup – so much so that the normally very prominent breakwater was completely hidden from view behind a mass of dense whiteness. […] The post Photo Friday: Beach appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more

On getting past the fear of “real” cameras

I have a confession to make. While I am attached to my iPhone and have come to truly adore snapping and editing pictures with it, the idea of using a “real” camera – you know, the kind with all those bells and whistles and lenses and complicated settings and such – intimidates the heck out […] The post On getting past the fear of “real” cameras appeared first on Alphabet Salad ....more
