Today is a good day.
Today is a good day. It has only just begun, with the perfect cup of coffee, some blog reading, and a quick pedicure! The pedicure was of the pre-hiking type. I learned a few years ago that hiking mountains with long toe nails meant coming home with fewer toenails! Today is a hiking day. After I run my standard errands, I will come home grab the husband and head to the Smoky Mountain National Forest for a long walk/hike. I am thankful that I live a mere 10 minutes from my favorite trailhead. I never tire of walking along the trail, surrounded by creek sounds and silence.
I spend several days a week in the gym. My work-outs are my sanity. They seem to provide long lasting attitude adjustments, and increase my tolerance for those little things that can irritate. When I move my body regularly, I am better equipped to go with the flow. My workouts are nothing fancy or extreme. I lift weights, do cardio, practice yoga, and on days like today, I plan on getting outside.
Sure, I would like to lose the 5-8 pounds I gained over the Summer, but I am focusing instead on moving a bit daily, and eating real food.
Today is a good day. I am just 4 months shy of 50 and in a good place. Nothing is perfect and that is just okay with me.
