September Wishlist: 4 ways to cozy up your home for fall!

Now that we have made it into September I finally feel as if I’ve adjusted to this whole deployment thing and Fall is coming fast!
After missing the season for 5 years in Florida, I have to admit that autumn is my absolute favorite part of Kansas.
Although I’ve been feeling a little off during the first month of deployment I think I’m getting my bearings. I’m embracing the changes of the seasons more than ever this year. As each season passes that means my husband is closer to coming home.
I’ve always loved fall. It’s such a comfortable and cozy season. I get really excited to add little autumn details to my home decor. The cooler weather and family holidays give me even more reason to be a home body. (yes, I’m a hermit and proud of it!)
Here are 4 things on my September wishlist for my fall home decor:
1. Candles are a must during the autumn and winter months. Bath and Body Works make the best scents for your home! Something about the yummy pumpkin scents that come out this time a year change a room so much. It instantly feels more inviting. I’ve already been burning mine for a week!
2. It’s time to break out the snugly throw blankets and add a few touches to your home to move away from summer mode. I love this one from Pier1, because it has all the earthy tones of fall with a pop of bright blue to keep it fresh.
3. Pillows in autumn designs and colors can be festive. I like to add earthy things to my living space to get in the mood for Thanksgiving. This adorable squirrel design is a quirky and unexpected addition.
4. I’ll be adding an autumn themed wreath to my door in the coming weeks. I am obsessed with the Magnolia Leaf Wreath from Pier1. It is gorgeous and a totally classy. I’ll also be planting some mums to replace my summer flowers. I like to keep the outside of our home festive and colorful even as the leaves turn and fall.
I’m off to spend the rest of the week prepping the house for a flurry of holiday decorating come. Lots of cleaning closets and organizing. Happy September!
