Bored by her constant yapping, Becky Sherrick Harks was plugged into a blank Wordpress blog in 2004 by her husband, The Daver. Confused by the idea that anyone would be interested in what she had to eat for lunch that day, she slowly pecked out a blog post, riddled with spelling and gramatical errors and hit the publish button. Several years and a couple of kids later, she started a new, more family-friendly blog, Mommy Wants Vodka, where people actually began to read the words that she wrote. EVEN THE MISSPELLED ONES.

Christina Shaver is a mom, wife, writer, musician, family business owner, and a lover of bacon but often vegan. In 2009 she started Hopeful Parents as a way for parents raising children with special needs to to reach out to each other.

She has used blogging as one platform to create awareness for special needs, the voices of parents, and the afflictions of those who suffer from mental illness. Through blogging, she has been able to amplify her message on National Public Radio, the New York Times, the Huffington Post, the Associated Press, and multiple news outlets in Chicago.
