Do You Know Who You Are?

As a child I always knew I was adopted. There was never a time I didn’t know. I knew my mother and father were musical, I had several siblings and I was 5 1/2 months old when they “got” me. I knew my last name and where I was born. I also knew I was given away at birth....more

Blank Pages

I started the day with a blank page. Literally. I opened a new document to start my post this morning and at the end of the day, there it sat, not a word on it.I struggle sometimes, as you all may as well, with how to get the words from my heart on to the page. There is always something rolling around but not always ready to be communicated. So today, I will leave it to a few words, rather than force what isn't ready to be said.Love,Jesi...more

Miracles, Signs & Wonders

Do you believe in modern day miracles? I read an article recently that attempted, miserably, to dispel the Bible and the truth within. As I read it, I had a fleeting thought of what if the article was correct? What if what I’ve believed so strongly were not real.  And in that second it took for the thought to enter my mind I had a flood of memories of all the things God has done in my life.  ...more

It's about time...

I find it interesting some days, to go back and read what I’ve written on my blog in the past couple of years.  I find joy in the day-to-day life we live and it’s a good reminder why I love to blog / write.  Now I just need to find more self-discipline to be a consistent writer.  It’s something I love to do but tends to be the first thing I let drop when life comes at me.  So, I figured it was time for an update…....more

Crepes, Hot Cocoa and The Irresistable Table

I love cookbooks.  I love big ones, small ones, old and new ones.  And before this starts to sound like a Dr. Seuss book, I’ll add I have all of the above. ...more

Thanksgiving Reinvented: We Don't Celebrate on Turkey Day

Growing up, celebrating holidays and birthdays with just the four of us was our normal. My brother, I and my parents would sit at the round table in the kitchen. Many years dreams of big family get-togethers with all the cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents were left unfulfilled. I yearned for the buffets of food and tables decorated with fine china and silver likely passed down from generations before. I listened intently as my friends would tell me of their trips to other towns to visit relatives. Their stories of adventures, chatter, cousins to play with and memories filled my imagination....more

Dime Store Diva

I stepped in to the store, taking stock of the room as I walked through the glass doors. I wasn’t sure where to start. My eyes scanned the displays and my heart skipped a beat as I saw the aisles of tops and dresses in a rainbow of colors. I carefully picked through several racks before I found a top I thought was perfect for the occasion. It was date night and it would be the first time I would wear a new outfit in a very long time. ...more

If You Can’t Say Something Nice – What Not To Say To Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

According to the 2010 Census, almost 5 million children live in a grandparent headed household. Most of these are either the grandparent raising the grandchild alone or the child’s family moved back in with the parents. There are numerous reasons this could happen, and it’s likely you know someone in this situation. ...more

What would you do?

My husband had reason to deal with an individual we don't know recently. He seemed like a nice enough guy. We were selling something and he was buying. They talked for a while and he began to share a little more than my husband expected. He has a very successful business making 6 figures yearly and enjoying this extra income on top of his retirement. He was a colorful, outgoing gentleman. Until he spoke the words we wish we'd never heard....more
