The Time Two Guys Tried to Switch During Sex

A friend of mine told me a horrifying story last week that put many of my bad dates to shame. Every time I thought my jaw couldn’t drop any further, a new detail shocked me again.Back in freshman year of college, Ellie, a really pretty, petite girl, had her eye on a hot junior, John, who lived down the hall in her co-ed dorm. The two started making out at a party in his room, and before she knew it, everyone was gone and it was just the two of them. Things got hot and heavy, and they ended up naked on his bed with the lights off. That’s when he got up to get a condom. When he got back on top of her with the condom, she opened her eyes to a terrifying sight — the naked guy sitting on her WAS NOT JOHN. ...more

Hippity Dippity Doo Doo | Jen and Men

If you read my blog, you know that I am not exactly the most upbeat person in the world. I’m not a Debbie Downer or anything, but I tend to have a pessimistic or, as I like to call it, a realistic view of what I see around me. I’m sorry that I can’t view a flat tire as an opportunity to be outdoors for a beautiful sunset. I can’t see having a job as a reason not to complain about a terrible commute. And I can’t stop myself from wanting to smack whoever can see the good in horrible situations. That being said, my boyfriend, Mark, and I took our dog, Abel, hiking this weekend. After a two-hour hike to a beautiful lake, I thought, Yes, I can finally rest on the shore and EAT.However, instead of seeing a big, open space and stunning view of the lake I have seen so many times before, I saw what can only be described as a tribe of women. “Why a tribe, Jen? Why not a group?” you might ask. These chicks had lines and symbols painted across their faces and bodies, and they were standing in a circle, chanting. So, yeah, I’m going with “tribe.”...more

Put the 'Meet' in Car Meet

Can you meet a guy at a car meet? I say, why the heck not? Think about it: A guy goes to a bar...why? To meet a girl. But there are 25 guys and 238,978,274,893 girls, most of whom want a husband. The competition alone is enough to make you want to set your extensions on fire. BUT a car meet is made up of 99% guys and only 1% girls! That’s virtually no competition at all. Aka the best place in the entire world to meet someone! What you need to do:(1) Look ...more

Women Talk About Guys the Way Guys Talk About Cars

This past weekend I sat and listened to 5 guys (one of which was my boyfriend, Mark) discuss cars for two hours straight. I turned to the person next to me and asked, “Do they always talk about cars?” He said, “Well, to be fair. They all love cars and when guys get together they’re going to talk about what they love.”It got me thinking: What do girls talk about when we get together? Oh yeah — we talk about our guys who only talk about cars. One of Mark’s car-loving friends compared a female conversation and a male conversation and concluded that they are exactly the same. Apparently, girls love discussing cars just as much as guys love discussing cars. All you have to do for us is swap out the word “car” for the word ...more

It Turns Out Joel the Interior Designer Wasn’t An Interior Designer OR Named Joel

Let’s take a moment to discuss pathological liars. I have already ranted about my ex-boyfriend, Joey, making up an entire vacation so that he didn’t have to hang out with me. And now you’ll find out about Joel…And, by the way, I feel okay using that name — because it’s technically not his name and I don’t think you can get angry at someone for using your real fake name.Joel, a very fashionable, good looking guy whom I met in a bar,  introduced himself as an Interior Designer.  I was impressed with that (never having met an interior designer before). We spoke for a few minutes near the coat check, and exchanged numbers....more

Be The Boyfriend You Wish You Had

Yes, you read the title correctly. It was a toss up between the one I chose and “Treat Yourself The Way You Wanted To Be Treated.” I don’t know how guys are, but when girls get together, all we do is bitch about our boyfriends. What they do wrong, why they can’t do anything right, what stupid ass thing they said, what stupid ass thing they did, etc, etc.We could literally go on all day long. The ranting and raving usually ends with an end-of-the-night “I don’t want you to get the wrong idea because he really is a great guy” or “But I really do love him” — to which we always reply, “You don’t have to say that. I know he’s a good guy and, if you didn’t love him, you wouldn’t be with him.” Sometimes I like to throw in “because he’s such a dumbass that why would you be with him if you didn’t love the idiot?”.Anyway, after years upon years of complaining about our boyfriends’ juvenile stupidity, my friends and I have decided to be the boyfriend that we wish we had. It’s pretty much the same concept as the Destiny’s Child’s Independent Women song. You can love him as much as you want, but don’t let his actions make you feel bad anymore....more

I Was Told I Wasn't "Pretty" On A First Date

I can honestly say that I have been on some of the worst dates in the history of the world.  And, of course, I totally checked the history of the world before I made that claim to fame.  Today, I’m going to share one of my more treasured memories with you. You may want to sit down for this one.  Scratch that.  Grab your laptop, find a friggin’ bed and lay down.  Yeah, it’s that bad....more

Save The Flakes For Tony The Tiger

Nothing bothers me more than a flakey person — whether I’m dating him/her or not. I am the queen of making plans and then being super lazy and not wanting to follow through with them. But I always do — because it’s just rude to have someone keep their schedule open for you and then leave them hanging because you decided you don’t feel like getting dressed and going out....more

Are You Dating a Man or a Mannequin?

Ah, the dating world. How often do we get attached to someone, break up with him/her, go through withdrawal, sometimes even depression, when all along we never really even knew them at all? It’s like we find what may as well be a mannequin, and fill our heads with what we believe that person should like. Let me know if this sounds familiar…Sees a photo of guy with his mother: Thought: He loves his family so much. When we get married, holidays will be so wonderful....more
