Summer "Unplugged" Activity Card Printables

So, this post was inspired by two things. First, I read the post, 10 Ways to Give Your Kid a 1970′s Summer by Scary Mommy. Oh my gosh, I loved it. I could relate to all of it. Today I went and got snow cones with my kids, and I was telling them how I used to ride my bike everyday in the summer to get a snow cone. They were super impressed....more

7 Tricks to Stop the Fake Crying

I recently heard that in Japan, they hold crying clubs. They watch sad movies, and read sad books in order to induce a good, healthy cry. I know that I love me a good cry. Don’t you? I swear I need to have a good cry weekly. If it’s the week before my period, that might get upped to daily. When I’m sad, I cry. When I’m mad, I cry. When I want to scream, I cry. When I’m laughing on the phone with my sister, I cry… sometimes until I’ve almost wet my pants. I’ve had three kids, after all. So, my point is… I can appreciate a good cry. ...more

5 Reasons I'll Never Be a Food Blogger

Every once in a while, I like to share recipes on my blog. Because I really do like to cook. And, I've had a few recipes that have been pinned a few times, which brings traffic to my blog. Win-win, right? But, today, as I was attempting to photograph another food item for another recipe share, I decided I could never become a food blogger. Like, EVER. Here are the reasons why. 1. I like to eat food more than take pictures of it. ...more

Cake-Like Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

2013 May Have Been The Best Ever. Even Though It Sucked.

I haven’t written in a while. I haven’t even wanted to. That’s the weird thing. I’ve been reflecting on a beautiful Christmas I spent with two of my siblings and nieces and nephews, and of course, I’ve been thinking a lot about 2013.  The truth is, I’m probably going through my usual Post Family Visit Depression or PFVD as I like to call it....more

Reality VS. Pinterest- A Holiday Home Tour of Sorts

Recently, I started a part-time job. I’m loving it. And, it has to do with blogging. Get this…I work for another blogger! It’s really fun, and she is such a sweet person and has like 5 million more followers than me or something. So, I’ve learned a lot too! In the process though, I’ve also be looking at a lot of crafts, DIY projects, and holiday home tours. I can now say that looking at pinterest is part of my job. “Yeah, honey. I’m working.” wink wink....more

The 5 Stages of CrazyTown When You Keep Your Kids Out After Bedtime

Tonight, my husband and I made the mistake of leaving the house after dinner. For anyone else out there with small children, that are somewhat scheduled like mine, then you will know for sure that leaving the house after dinner is almost always a mistake. I would say, 99.9% of the time....more

Sibling Rivalry is Never Dead

One of my favorite childhood memories is when my brother decided to drag me across the carpeted gymnasium at church in front of his friends. That was fun. Kidding. That was horrible, and I had the carpet burns to prove it. But, I get it, he was trying to be manly at the time…or something.  Being 5 years my senior, there really wasn’t much rivalry there. No, it was more of a dictatorship. Older brother always wins against 3 younger sisters....more

What Does Bravery Look Like When You're a Mom?

I’ve never thought of myself as “brave” in the true sense of the word. I’m not really a risk-taker, and aside from roller coasters, I don’t do any dare-devilish things. Skiing even seems out of the question for me. ...more
I can totally relate to this.  Being a mom is hard work.  Recently I had to be "that" mom in ...more
