Chicken Stew with Bacon, Cheddar, and Dill Biscuits

Last night for dinner I made Chicken Stew with Dumplings  Bacon, Cheddar and Dill Biscuits.I decided the last minute to switch from dumplings to biscuits because I felt a little ‘flaky’ instead gooey. LOL! ;)It was a fake-it, make-it recipe. A well stocked pantry helped out, as I always have Bisquick for that ‘just in case’ moment of a recipe development. The biscuits turned out awesome especially with a pat of butter! :D ...more

Pesto 101

It is summer. The fruit and vegetable crops are coming into the season in our gardens and farmers markets. This past weekend at the trailer in a torrential rain storm with limited TV choices, I watched a cooking show where the chef blanched the basil before making her pesto. Intrigued, I called on my Mom and Dad's abundant basil crop to try it myself. This potent sauce is versatile—on pasta, in an omelet, and paired with chicken—and because I can freeze it, I can make pesto when basil is at its best and then continue to enjoy it through the fall. Hamburgers using My Flavour Enhancers | the 5 o'clock rush

Hamburgers are synonymous with BBQ, camping and summer at the trailer for my family. I like to make my own hamburger patties. I can control the ingredients and seasonings that are in my burgers. The flavour enhancers that I made add that extra punch and moisture to the burgers. Think of the package soup mix from the past without the added chemicals or salt. These burgers can be made ahead and frozen for the next BBQ....more
