Beware the Dragons! Transform Your Kid's Room Into a Knight's Retreat!

My younger son has always been fascinated by castles, dragons and knights. Last year, we redecorated his bedroom to fit this theme. Lucky for me, he already had some great decor for the room -- his castle, dragon and knight collection! ...more

Simple Pillow Case Dress Tutorial

Today I am going to try my hand at a Pillow Case Dress Tutorial. The pillow case dress is a very simple sewing project, and it doesn't take long to complete. For my pillow case dresses I use fabric cut straight from the bolt instead of using an actual pillow case, I personally think that there are more options available when buying fabric....more

St. Patrick's Day Mason Jar Vases

[Editor's Note: St. Patrick’s Day is next week, is you house decorated in green and pantry stocked with boxes of Lucky Charms? Never fear it is not too late to do a little green themed crafting. I realize painted Mason Jars are nothing new, but this is the first time I have seen them with a new and improved raised St. Patrick’s Day themed slogan. I love the way they add a spot of spring color holding a bouquet of flowers. - Jen]...more
Love the way these look! I bet older kiddos would have fun making these too.more

Felt Shamrock Tutorial

[Editor's Note: Anybody can cut green felt into heart shapes. Anyone can glue said hearts to craft wire. That being said you have no excuse not to decorate for St. Patrick's Day. The best part about felt shamrocks as opposed to real ones is that they will be there next year, equally perky, ready to add Irish cheer to another year. - Jen]...more

Make Meal Planning a Cinch With This DIY Menu Board

One of the best things I have found on Pinterest is how to make a menu board. Every Sunday night, I had to suffer through weekly meal planning, which took way too long! So when I found this menu board from the Creative Mama blog, I knew I had found something wonderful! This board has made my life so much easier. The Parenting Call That Didn't Work Out

Last week, Kansas City got hit with a whopper of a snowstorm. We saw video of drivers forced to stop on major interstates and abandon their cars -- on pretreated roads. Kansas City is no stranger to snowstorms, but the snow was falling so fast we literally couldn't keep up. School had been called off the night before, but for the first time in my memory, the emergency daycare called all the parents to say they were closing, too, and please come get your kid. Good luck to you if you were one of those drivers stuck on the Interstate. Fast forward to today -- another major storm is on the way, and because of conflicting predictions of when the weather would start, I decided to keep my daughter home this morning even though school is in session....more

Lego Party

Our DS turned four years old this week. He was adamant about having a Lego party. One problem, we hardly had any Legos. Like the good mom that I am I looked to Pinterest for help. There were some really great ideas for games, decor, and the cake. We were just missing the most important part of the equation. So, how does one have a Lego party without Legos?...more
