My dinning room needs a make over
My dinning room is dark. The room itself is dark and we have a dark table, dark rug and dark accents. I never liked it but here we are. I feel kind of trapped.
We bought this table:

Now I wish I could say my table still looks that nice but, I would be lying through my teeth. Its covered in knicks, scratches and scuffs – kids people I HAVE KIDS.
So its needs a face lift.
The rest of my home is in calming blues, greens and soft creams with touches of brown. Something like this:

I am in love with the rest of my house. It has soft shabby touches with heavy wood accents. I have a theme of birds through out my living room mixed in with flea market finds.
I really want to bring that feel into my kitchen and dinning room.
I headed to Pinterest and was overloaded with options.
I have one table, 3 chairs, 1 bench and 3 bar stools to make over.
I love the mix and match of paint colors on the pieces. I love stencil designs and I am also kind of digging chalk board but I think I will save that for the kids school table instead of the dinning room.
Check out this make over from Sophia’s Decor(image linked).
I cant believe it’s the same freaking table! Its so whimsical and elegant and I am in love.
I’m am also loving this mix of color on the chairs in this make over from Start At Home(image linked)
Amazing how playful it all looks even though the table and chairs are actually quite heavy themselves.
Lastly look how gorgeous this soft stencil is – I think could be lovely on a dinning room table – not too over powering its just enough…

So this is where I am headed something along these lines. It may end up looking a bit weird in our current place but we rent so I feel like I can take the chance of it clashing for a little while until we move into a new place.
I will have a before and after post – hopefully this week!
Have you done a recent make over to something in your home? Link me up I would love to see it!
