A gardener, a writer, and a technophile in about equal measure, I've been blogging at Cold Climate Gardening for over ten years. I started CCG after moving to a USDA Zone 4 garden with no clue how to cope with the short season and frigid winters. I've also written for Horticulture, Fine Gardening, The American Gardener, and Upstate Gardeners' Journal.
I am old enough to remember watching black-and-white television and playing music on a phonograph, when a map was something you unfolded from a glove compartment and searching was something you did with a flashlight, looking for socks under the bed. I feel like I stand over a gap, one foot planted on each side, and I'm always looking for ways to narrow that gap, to bring the two sides together. I think of myself as a technophile who likes to help technophobes, especially my fellow gardeners and writers--and my mom!
