The Integrity of Blogging
Blogging is a gift. It is a gift to women, by women and for women. It is a source of enpowerment for us. We can read and comment on the blogs of others and learn from people. We can read about their stories, their opinions, their insight on world issues. We can read about their funny stories and these women are kind enough to let us into their lives. They are brave enough to let us join them on their journeys.
The other day, I was reading a blog post by Rita Arens. She bravely shared how she got into a fight with her daughter, then didn't make up before she went to school and Rita said that she alomst lost her family, to due police chase that was going on. A van going at 90 miles an hour almost hit them. Think about how frightening that must have been. That was something that Rita didn't have to share, but I am truly amazed by her. That took some strength to share something that personal with all of us.
But, that is what blogging is about. It is about being able to let yourself go and be honest. Be creative. Being fearless enough to let people into your lives, to share your fears and insecurities. To be able to have fun and be creative. To be fearless enough to make a complete fool of yourself and to make your blog what you want it to be.
There is not a direct manuscript on how blogging is done. Your blog should be an extension of you. And that's what I'm learning. I've only been blogging for a little while and I am truly passionate about it. But, one of the flaws that I have, is over thinking. I tend to feel like I must have something amazing, in order to blog. If it's not what I think should be blogged about, then I won't put it up. Now, even though I know that you shouldn't just put up anything. But, you must put up something. Well, that's one of those things that I must learn. Just like Ree Drummond on her list of, "Top Ten things I've learned about Blogging", just blog. Even if you've got a severe case of writers block, just blog. Well, I must learn that.
Blogging is a privilege. And with privilege, comes responsibility. That's something I learned fron The Berenstain bears. :) When you gifted with a privilege, it is your job to take care of it. To make sure that it has the best. And that is what I am going to do. No excuses. In order for my blog to be what I want, I must continue to work at it and be relentless. Nothing comes out good, if you don't put something good into it.
The Integrity of Blogging is being honest, creative, informative, and funny. You should be able to dream up what you want your blog to be and then strive to make it happen.
