The Incredible Impact of Nelson Mandela

South African anti-apartheid activist and former president Nelson Mandela has died at age 95 on December 5, 2013. I think I'll remember what I was doing when I heard for the rest of my life. Nelson Mandela was one of those. I could talk about his life and his legacy, but we know. We remember. We learned about him. Now, let's take a moment to remember him, together, no matter which country we are in across the globe. As a people. Nelson Mandela reminded us with his life that we are one people.

Ever since I discovered Mandela's Foundation on Twitter, I've been struck by how much has changed in our ability to talk to one another since Mandela was freed in 1990 after 27 years in prison. That so many across the globe have been inspired by his words, his triumphs, his mistakes, and his commitment to try again and again, no matter how formidable the obstacles, speaks to the bond of humankind that he engendered. There aren't very many people whose lives make you drop to your knees, but Nelson Mandela was one of them.
