I Take Bad Christmas Photos

I Take Bad Christmas Photos

It's true. I take really bad holiday photos. It doesn't matter whether I use my iPhone camera or any other type of camera, they're just bad. I know exactly why this is the case -- I do everything wrong.

I thought this year I might try a little harder to take some better shots but if that's going to happen, I'm going to need some help. I watched this The Girls with Glasses video for some ideas about how I might resolve some of the biggest problems I have.

I think I can manage at least a couple of these really basic ideas.

Before Christmas morning, I'm going to fiddle with the lighting in the family room. Lighting is one of our biggest problems, particularly when it comes to taking our (in)famous family stairs photos.

I'm also going to see if I can move some of the clutter (even if it's Christmas decoration clutter) from around the family room to prevent antlers from growing out of kids' heads.

Do you take good "in the moment" holiday photos? If you don't, these tips might help you. I hope they help me. I'll get back to you on 12/26.

Apparently Johnny Mac Pippin needs them all. And a whole lot more, to boot.   Read more >

One year ago today I had the honor of watching my first grandchild, Johnny Mac Pippin, arrive. It was the most awesome day -- ever. I highly recommend this whole grandparent gig. It's fabulous. Every day or so I get new photos or videos of Johnny Mac Pippin looking adorable. (Thank goodness for unlimited text and data!) Every day or so I get to listen to my daughter talk about motherhood and marvel over the amazingness of her son.   Read more >

Imagine you are a photographer. You backup your photos via flickr so you can also easily share them on your blog. Now imagine you find someone stealing your work!
