How Will YOU Celebrate International Kissing Day?

July 6 has been dubbed "International Kissing Day", and all around the world, people celebrate it by puckering up with loved ones (or, face it, whoever is at the theatre with you, 90 minutes into the newest Rom-Com).

"A more technical term for kissing is philematology, which means the science of kissing.   A kiss is the act of pressing one’s lips against the lips or other body part or an object.  According to researchers, we will spend about 20,160 minutes of our lives kissing. While I haven’t timed the number of minutes I have kissed thus far, my personal goal is to exceed the 20,160 minutes!" --BlogHer, Elaine writes based on this article about kissing.

Now, that seems like a LOT of kissing, but in the time it took me to write this blog, I kissed my boyfriend no less than 8-10 times, so maybe...?

"The art of kissing has inspired countless poems, books, movies, and songs. It is considered the most intimate act and its power is not to be taken lightly. Whether we call it smooching, pecking or otherwise, kissing can be used to show passion, love, greeting, friendship and more." -- BlogHer Nataly Auger says, writing about the fun facts about the science of kissing.

Kissing is arguably one of the most intimate expressions of love. It can be a subtle communication of words that have long remained unspoken or it can be a bold declaration of unbridled lust.  Kissing can also be a loving, non-sexual way to connect to loved ones, as BlogHer, Shannon, wrote about, sparking a debate about whether or not parents should kiss their children on the lips (I do!).

Whatever you prefer, be sure to find someone to plant a big one on today and revel in the joys of kissing. It's good for your health

What You Don't Know About Your Partner Can Hurt You

There are often discussions during which people bring up other people’s sexual histories and past relationships, usually as a way to measure others’ worth or values as potential partners. Many of these discussions are usually centered around women’s past behaviors, choices, and whether or not their engagement in certain sexual activities or types of relationships make them “quality women” or “marriage material”.   Read more >

Beyoncé's Been a Bad, Bad, Bad Girl...and It Is Oh-So-Good

I will admit that I have been a rather casual fan of the internationally-adored pop culture icon, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter,  even though she has been dominating the music industry for at least a decade.  There is no denying that she is talented, loves her family, makes smart business moves, and is a beautiful person inside and out. My biggest issue was that she had a voice I felt she simply was not using to its fullest potential, both in sound and influence.   Read more >
