First, it’s a common misconception that our hair needs to be washed every day. Although you should shower or bathe on a regular basis, you don’t have to wash your hair daily. Unless you have a really oily scalp, washing your hair everyday can actually remove important nutrients from your hair follicles.

When it’s time to wash, shampoo and conditioner are a must! The only exception is a 2-in-1 combination, but I like to keep them separate. Choose brands that are formulated for your hair type; thick, curly, straight, etc. Shampoo should be massaged into your scalp thoroughly, while conditioner should be worked into the body and tips of the hair. Avoid using conditioner on the scalp because it can weigh fine hair down.

Pay attention to the products you are using on your hair too! Its really important to see what you are washing your hair with and what you are putting on your hair that could possibly be drying it out or stripping your color and necessary nutrients.

There are also a lot of great foods that you can eat year round to keep your hair healthy! Here are 9 different foods that help keep your hair healthy and heavenly…

Protein, vitamin-D, omega-3s, iron, zinc, etc., these foods are packed with essential nutrients your hair needs and deserves!
