Over the past ten days, Granny, Mom and I were at the hospital, in a one room for ten days!
Granny got sick with Pneumonia and she was heavily, severely congested. You could her breathing from another room. So, we took her to the ER. After spending almost six hours in the ER, they admitted her.
Now, we'd just been through this a little over a month ago and I'll tell you, it was a challenging experience. But, we made it through. The difference was she wasn't wating or drinking and she got dehydrated. Our air conditioner went out. On what seemed like the hottest day here, and I had to go out of town in order to buy a new one. But, the stay was not long, like it was this time. Last time, Granny had to get a G-tube in her stomach, so that when she doesn't feel like ezting, we feed her and give her medication to her though the tube. Well, in that same vain, we were battling with that decision, because has never wanted a G-tube in her stomach. And mom had a hard time, battling between two diffcult choices. She had to choose between respecting Granny's wishes and nt do it or think about her health, weight, and nutrition and put in anyway.
Well, Mom made the decision and the tube was placed and now, she'll eat better by mouth. So, fortunately things have worked out. But, this time, we hoped that we would've been home last Monday or Tuesday, (Or should I, "I was the one that wanted to go home.) But, we couldn't come home, the congestion hadn't cleared up by that time. So we waited and we waited. Finally, after I prayed for Mom and I, to be able take Grandma back on Tuesday, (yesterday), the Doctor came in early on Monday Morning. He checked Grandma out and surprised Mom and I, by telling us that we could take Granny home.
We were so happy and relieved to be going back home and Granny has been happy and comfortable and she is so happy to back in her own bed, again! We're happy to be able to cook our food and whatever we want to eat. It feels good to be able stay at home and just enjoy our own home again.
Taking care of someone, takes many things. But, three main things you need, is Prayer, Compassion and Patience. It is so important to always think about how you would feel. You wouldn't want someone to take advantage of you and take your health for granted. We work hard to take care of Granny and give her the best that we can. We love her and we want her to be happy and comfortable. She has given everything to everyone, since she was a little girl. And it's about time that she gets that love back.
None of us, could possibly give to her what she's given to us. But, if we can put a smile on her face, then it's all worth it!
Granny, I Love you and Mom, I Love you. I thank God everyday for my family and I thank him for being so kind, merciful and generous, to give me such remarkable Women to help raise me and guide me in the direction that I should. You both and Grandpa, not to mention the village that has helped raise me, have trained me in the way that I should go, I won't depart from it. I'm not perfect, but I am who I am because of all of you! God bless!
