First Time Here

First Time Here

This is new for me.  I have always seen and read my friends blogging and never really done it for my self.  The only type of blogging I have done are just book reviews.  I have always wanted to write but have always had self-esteem issues when it comes to writing.  I didn't do very well in all of my writing classes. But that's ok because I just always have thoughts that I needed to put down on paper.

I am excited to be part of this community.  More about me...well, I lost my job in 2010 due to the recession.  I was working for a company from Australia and decided that they wanted to take all the accounting  in house. Did I mention that I was an accountant.  Not by choice but when I started working after high school I got a job being an assistant to an accountant and so people just pigion holed me into accounting.  But that is a story for another time. So living in Los Angeles is difficult to live off of one income.  I thought that this would be a great opportunity to do something I wanted to do.  I absolutely love books.  So I got together with a girlfriend and decided to start up a new/used bookstore.  So to start we did not have any capital so we decided to begin as an online new/used bookstore.  We were very excited about this new venture.  We registered with the State of California and did what we needed to do to get the bookstore running.

Everything was in place to go, but what happen when I have more because free time?  I get pregnant.  My husband and I had a 8 year old at the time.  He turned nine before our daughter was born.  We were so beyond thrilled to find out about a new addition.  Our son was over the moon.  He had been asking for a sibling for forever.  During my pregnancy I became so incredibly sick that the bookstore was put on hold.  My business partner also had a business that she ran with her husband so we had other things going on.  The bookstore was/is still a dream so we still decided to persue it, but to temporarily put it on hold.

Three years later I finally want to get serious about it.  During the years I would occasionally blog/review books that I had read on Facebook or my blogger site.  I enjoy it very much.  Recently, a very good friend of mine suggested I join this Blogher site.  In looking at it so far i LOVE it.  I could blog about about anything.  So I'm really excited to be here.

Hopefully, as a mom of a toddler and a 10-year-old living in LA I can find a online community where I can share things that I have read and learned and if I need advice on things I could go to.

Thanks for this opportunity.

Until next time,

Darlynne
