Make Your Own Sidewalk Chalk and Paint

Make Your Own Sidewalk Chalk and Paint

When I was a kid we had a long dirt driveway, which was a source of serious disappointment for me. My friends with paved driveways used to make epic hopscotch paths and I so wanted to be able to make them. When we bought our house one of the first things I did was buy sidewalk chalk. What I didn't know then, and I do now, is I could have made my own. You can make your own sidewalk paint, too! I have a full container of chalk in my cupboard, but when it runs out I'l be trying some of these recipes. I added some fun activities you can do with chalk in here as well. Have fun!

I was really surprised to discover how easy it was to make sidewalk chalk. I love that Megan made glow in the dark sidewalk chalk because who doesn't love things that glow in the dark? If glow in the dark chalk isn't your thing, you can replace the glow in the dark paint with a washable tempera paint.

The only thing better than homemade sidewalk chalk paint is fizzy homemade sidewalk chalk paint. I love things that fizz! They're the best.

You've made your own chalk or paint. Your kids have created masterpieces on your driveway or sidewalk and now they have some energy to burn. I like Carolyn's outdoor chalk activity, which combines chalk, exercise and some friendly competition.

What sidewalk chalk activities are you doing this summer?
