Dear BlogHer Editors: Can We Get A Better Mobile Experience?
Roughly seven months ago I came across this website that seemed like a perfect match for me. It was made by women for women and covered everything from politics to perms. I signed up immediately, anxious to add my voice. I filled out my profile, uploaded a sassy picture, and pressed "create post." And that is where my sadness began.
I love my iPhone. I love that it has writing applications that allow me to print and edit and add photos. I love that I can have an almost 300 page novel written with one thumb. I love that I can surf the web, talk on the phone, or email a friend, all without opening my computer. I almost wrote an email. But then I thought, what if I'm the only person this obsessed with my phone? They'll think I'm quackers. And besides, isn't this what BlogHer is all about? Adding our voice?
The BlogHer mobile site on an iPhone is ok. By ok, I mean that I can read through posts that interest me and it's relatively easy to navigate. But here's the rub: you can't post on the mobile site! You have to switch to the full site, which I could live with (even though it's kind of annoying) if the full site wasn't so damned inconvenient on my iPhone. If I want to sign in I have to scroll over into the corner, but since it's too small to see, I always try to zoom in. If I zoom a hair's breadth too far, I can't scroll over to my log in/profile. Again, I can live with it, but it's annoying. What I can't live with is that in order to post, I have to log in, navigate to that tiny little corner and hope that my ham-like fingers can tap on "create post" this time instead of "log out", in which case I then have to start the whole process over again.
Then let's talk about actually creating the post. There is a God-awful BlogHer blue bar thingy right in the middle of where I want to post. If I try to click inside the post to change edit something, nine times out of ten it freezes. I then have to click "done" and then go back in. This is a waste of my very precious time! I have two tweens and a 13 month old, and they are very high maintenance! I'm not high maintenance--all I require is an easy mobile site that allows me to post! Or a full site that accommodates a mobile phone, so that I can get my post up before the baby wakes and Punkgirl & Happyboy get in from school.
I am by no means a technical person--but I am not technologically challenged either (although, I haven't learned HTML yet, and that is a serious fault that I am working on.) I tell you this so that I can ask you, do you have this same problem? Would you like to see a better mobile platform on BlogHer? Or better yet, an app where you can create a post? And how can we make that happen??

I'm a 40 something year old with two tweens and a new baby. This is my effort to keep my sanity after leaving the workforce, taking up breastfeeding, and managing the kids. I'm mostly failing at it.
