Have you ever taken an art class with life models? I’m horrible at sketching: my perspective is interminably squashed, but a class with models holding poses on center stage really helped. I thought their nakedness might make me nervous or feel embarrassed to stare at nude bodies, but it wasn’t weird at all. The beauty of diverse nude forms created focus and immediacy, and all of our sketches were better for it. The nudity of the models made sense. They were professionals, mostly artists themselves, and they knew what they were doing.
