Baby in a Blizzard

Baby in a Blizzard

Tonight, 4:27am on a Tuesday, I am writing to you from my hospital bed. Lying next to me is the most perfect little boy I have ever laid eyes on. Drew is amazing. He came into this world at 2:45pm and weighed 6lbs and 19in long.

He grunts while he sleeps and his bottom lip quivers so much when he cries....

It's now 4:47am.

It took me that long to stop looking at him.

Ok, now it's 4:54am.

I can't finish this post. I'll write to you all about it later.

Johnny Mac Pippin, aka Aiden Samuel, was born at Tripler Army Medical Center on May 15, 2012 at 12:36pm. He weighed a whopping 8lbs and was 21" long. His mother had no drugs and the only assistance was breaking the water 90 minutes before he made his way into the world. Yep. My beautiful, tiny baby birthed a good size baby of her own -- and she did it fabulously. I was in awe of her strength and her determination. Two days later and I'm still in awe. Rockstar. Super Hero. Birthing Goddess. That's my girl!   Read more >

Leaving for America

I could never have imagined it without a little help. In my child’s mind, I pictured a mound of sand, a palm tree (with coconuts!) and my grandparents clinging to it to survive. I spent weeks fretting about how we would swim there and alternatively about how we would all fit!   Read more >
