Founder, BakeSpace

Babette Pepaj launched in 2006 as the Web’s first food-themed social network, and has grown the site into a diversified media and events company for people who are passionate about food, cooking and the culinary lifestyle. Described by USA Today as “The closest thing to a Facebook-like food site,” the core BakeSpace community currently has more than 70,000 member-submitted recipes. Innovations include the first do-it-yourself cookbook publishing platform that enables anyone to create, market and sell a cookbook as both a web-based ebook and iPad app. Dubbed “Cookbook Café,” the platform is part of BakeSpace’s large built-in community of home cooks, which makes even grassroots cookbooks discoverable. BakeSpace has earned 18 Webby Award honors, as well as recognition from the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) for “Outstanding Use of New Technology.” Prior to launching BakeSpace, Babette worked for more than a decade producing and directing reality TV.
