Arianna Huffington Returns to Keynote BlogHer in 2014
In May of 2005, a scant two months before the first BlogHer Conference, a new site called the Huffington Post was born. That was back when trying to build a business via blogging was uncharted territory. One year later, Arianna Huffington was a featured keynote speaker at BlogHer '06, our second annual event. Arianna spoke about the HuffPost, of course, but she also spoke quite poignantly about sleep. The need for sleep. How badly most of us lack sleep. Sleep as an indicator of balance and wellness in our lives (or lack thereof).
Eight years later, Arianna is the chair, president, and editor in chief of the Huffington Post Media Group—and she is returning to the BlogHer keynote stage for our 10th anniversary event. We eagerly anticipate hearing about the evolution of her business, the evolution of social media and the evolution of her thinking about wellness.
Bringing BlogHer back to our home in Silicon Valley, we think it's natural to invite social web pioneers to share their vision of the future for us all. With Arianna, we know we'll hear a thoughtful vision that considers how to stay happy when hyper-connected.
This is the subject of Arianna's 14th book: Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder, to be published this month by Crown.
Walking her talk about a more connected life, Arianna is doing something unprecedented in the publishing industry: Anyone who pre-orders Thrive before March 25, will get their money back—in the form of a $26 DonorsChoose.org gift code to spend on the classroom project of their choice, to help fulfill a teacher's dream. BlogHer has worked with Donors Choose in the past, and we are happy to share this opportunity to help them. To order Thrive and receive a DonorsChoose.org gift code, please visit: http://www.donorschoose.org/thrive.
