Announcing Foodstirs Co-Founder Sarah Michelle Gellar to Keynote #BlogHerFood15 in Chicago!

I am excited to announce that our closing keynote for #BlogHerFood15 will be an Innovator Interview with actress and (newly unveiled) food-focused entrepreneur Sarah Michelle Gellar.

ANNOUNCING: Foodstirs co-founder Sarah Michelle Gellar to Keynote #BlogHerFood15 in Chicago!

You may be doing a bit of a double-take, and a few months ago I would have been right there with you. But just yesterday People.com shared the exclusive unveiling of Sarah Michelle's entrepreneurial venture, Foodstirs, which she has been working on in stealth mode for the last year.

Co-founded with two partners (and you know how we feel about three co-founders around here), Foodstirs is a new cooking and lifestyle brand designed to bring families together in the kitchen.

Sarah Michelle has been sharing her love for all things food, craft, and #foodcrafting across social media for a long time now (check her Instagram and Pinterest boards), and launching this company (and a related book next year) will bring that love to kitchens everywhere.

I'm always fascinated by women, famous or not, who make the leap from one area of excellence into entrepreneurship. A lot goes into launching and fundraising for any start-up, including, in this case, an eCommerce and lifestyle company.

There's a lot of research, analysis, business modeling, competitive review, branding exploration and manifestation ... and the list goes on. This has been Sarah Michelle's primary focus for months now, and there is a lot we all can learn from what she has learned during this process.

If you've been thinking about how to take your passion further and build a scalable growth business beyond your food blog, Sarah Michelle has spent a lot of time considering what is necessary to do just that.

Now, I have a confession to make. I am also a super-huge fan of Sarah Michelle, and all things Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have been known to say that Buffy is the best show on television ... EVER.

I will show people "The Body" or "Once More with Feeling" or "Hush" (all my fellow Buffy fans know what I'm talking about) to anyone who becomes my friend ... I'm not saying it's a test, but ...

I have all things Buffy on DVD, I have two academic explorations of the show on my coffee table, and I have faithfully followed Sarah Michelle to Ringers and The Crazy Ones, too. So my own cognitive dissonance at hearing Sarah Michelle talk about launching a brand and discussing online marketing best practices has been, um, notable.

But inspiring, too. Because smart women inspire me. And smart, adaptable, ever-evolving women who follow their passions and make leaps into new ventures? The best.

So, no, we're not going to avoid talking about her life as an iconic actress ... it actually makes her transition to wife, mom, crafter, author, and entrepreneur all the more intriguing.

Bonus: We totally know we'll be safe from any undead apocalypse on November 6-7 at #BlogHerFood15 :)

So. What questions would you ask Sarah Michelle about how to scale your kitchen-related passions into a full-time business?
