BELMONT, CA -- (Marketwire - Jun 12, 2012) - BlogHer, Inc., the premium cross-platform media network and publisher for women, announced today that award-winning journalist, best-selling author and popular television personality Katie Couric will be the lunch keynote speaker at BlogHer '12, on Saturday, August 4, 2012 in New York City. Katie's new syndicated daytime talk show, "Katie," launches this fall.

The 8th annual BlogHer Conference, the largest audience of influential online women nationwide, will bring 4,000 attendees together with 100 major brand name sponsors and top national media. The Saturday, August 4th keynote will be the centerpiece of BlogHer '12, placing the soon-to-be talk show host on the other side of the interview table, sharing her plans for the exciting new phase of her storied career. Katie will also welcome questions from the audience during an in-depth Q&A with BlogHer co-founder and CEO Lisa Stone.

"We are thrilled to host Katie at our annual conference, as she embarks on the next phase of her consistently groundbreaking career," said Elisa Camahort Page, Jory Des Jardins and Lisa Stone, BlogHer co-founders. "We know that Katie's personal and professional journey and her plans to use social media to invigorate the talk show format will resonate with the BlogHer community."

"Katie" begins September 10, and will broadcast live, daily, in front of a studio audience in New York City. The show will use Katie's versatility to have a smart conversation each day that mixes entertainment, information and the stories of the day -- a chance for Katie to talk with people about the topics that matter most. "Katie" will have a significant digital component that allows not just viewers, but the online community to engage before, during, and after each episode. The website will feature user-generated content along with the show's content and social media stream to foster a community that really allows for sharing, connecting, and engagement.

"I have been a supporter and follower of BlogHer for some time now, and recognize the influence of the women who are a part of this incredible network," said Katie Couric. "As we plan for my new show, we're looking to communities like BlogHer for ideas, input, and conversation.
